Tambora drums bang on the off-beats, creating a syncopated groove. Brass and horns punctuate a snappy melody, with a smooth accordion topping it off. Just when you think you’re hearing an old-school Merengue groove, Lexcano starts rapping on the track. This combination of musical styles is even reflected in the origin of Lexcano’s MC name. Ask him about his musical influences and stylistic aims, and you’ll see the diverse trend continue. “I’ve got a huge list of artists that I have learned a lot from, but my biggest inspirations are Vico-C, Tego Calderon, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar. I’ve got a hot mixtape out, Hecha Pa’ Ca, (which) has a really good mix of different Latin sounds – Merengue, Bahcata, Salsa, and Reggeaton. It also features Hip-Hop, R&B and other pop sounds. My new album will also feature a lot of Latin sounds. This time I’m adding Portuguese Soka and Brazilian Zamba, and of course it will have the elements of Hip-Hop and Reggeaton, which are the main foundation
