“Ashaka and Ram jam Reggae” is a band that plays a straight-up reggae groove dubbed, “now school reggae.” The music is contemporary, contagious, conscious and original. Its influences range from Bob Marley to Peter Tosh. The band is led by Linval Thomas (aka, Ashaka), Jamaican-born writer, singer, arranger and producer. The band has been performing primarily in and around the St Louis, Missouri - Belleville, Illinois metro, getting airplay, and creating quite a buzz in several premier venues performing songs from their forthcoming full-length album “Time.” The band has been charting above the top 15 on the Missouri Roots Radio Airplay Chart with their CD single “Save Darfur,” since October 6, 2009.
