Aura Azul was formed in 2003 but the band's roots go back to 1993, at that time the band was called Prowler Wraith and was disbanded because of musical differences between member during the 93/94 grunge/alternative era.
Back in 2003 the band forms with the goal to continue where things were left in back 1993, and so Aura Azul was born.
With a strong Power Metal/Heavy Metal influences in the vein of Iron Maiden,King Diamond,Helloween and Judas Priest, the bands music and lyrics are mostly composed by Hommy Torres and Gabriel Velez
The band at this moment has 4 albums Aura Azul (2010), Live at Coliseo de Puerto Rico (2011), Beyond the doors of time (2012) and TETRAD: The four blood moons (2014) and is the first Puertorican band to be signed by a Japanese Metal Label Total Steel Records.
During all these years the band has various achievements, Song of the month with "The isle of Medusa" topping at the #1 spot at MTV's Ourstage in 2013 also two top 10 songs with "Beyond the doors of time" and Seven top 40s with the songs "The Penitent Man", "Kingdom of Alefgard" and "Luzbel".
In 2014 the album TETRAD: The four blood moons won the Puertorican Album of the year by British magazine Global Metal Apocalypse.
Since 2012 the band is a top seller at the Japanese underground scene, the albums "TETRAD:The four blood moons" and "Beyond the doors of time" are being sold out in most Japanese specialized stores, setting a precedent for Metal bands in Puerto Rico.
Back in 2011 the band was handpicked by Iron Maiden itself to open for them in San Juan, Puerto Rico during the Final Frontier World Tour, the band also opened for Paul Di'anno, Ronny Munroe's era Metal Church and Obsession.
