Portrait of BibiTheDJ
Bibi was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. Started on piano at the age of 8, switched to guitar at age 11. At the same age Bibi started writing songs of his own. By the age of 15, he was playing electric guitar in his first band and found out that he was addicted to funk and blues. He was (still is) full-bodied, fairly stout and burly, to his band members he sort of looked like B.B. King, the great Blues musician and guitarist. Bibi was a blues maniac, he used to play and sing blues all the time, had a big guitar that looked almost like B.B.’s “Lucille”, except for that he is white, though, as his band musicians used to say - Bibi’s got a soul of a Blackman. Finally, Bibi’s band members decided to give him an official stage name - “Bibi”. So, it’s been over 30 years that he was sort of baptized as Bibi. His official name is George, which he really likes, but over the years, he got used to his stage name, and now can't even imagine somebody calling him George. Regardless of the fact that he grew up listening to all genres of music, starting with blues, rock, funk, punk, jazz, fusion, etc. he adores classical music. Bibi has been DeeJaying for 5 years on various local FM Radio Stations, has been a host of different Radio Talk-Shows; A co-host of the famous Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. Has created tons of music for miscellaneous TV and Radio Programs, Jingles, Ads and Commercials. His tracks are in miscellaneous compilations of Georgian Electronic Music CDs. He has composed soundtracks for 2 movies, has written over 45 songs. Bibi used to play in various bands, several rock, funk and blues bands as a lead guitar player; used to be a bass guitar and piano player, lead and back vocalist. He was even playing in a band that played cover versions of “The Beatles” songs. As time was passing, Bibi decided to create music all by himself, sort of "go solo". He still cooperates with session musicians in the studio and plays on Jam-Sessions, freestyling his guitar occasionally. "Funkability Perspective" is one of the projects Bibi is currently working on, but it may sound weird ‘cos basically he is workin' on his three Albums simultaneously. These Albums are of different genres: First one is focused solely on FUNK. He absolutely LOVES FUNK music. Second Album will be full of ELECTRONIC music (Check out - www.myspace.com/bibithedj) and the Third Album - "The Meaning". You can listen to one composition from this album called “Uh, Baby” to have the general idea about it. Currently Bibi is workin' in a professional sound recording studio. He composes music, writes and arranges songs, writes lyrics for songs, does the programming, record, engineer and produce music. Drop him a line, post a comment and interact. He'd love to hear musician’s comments. :) Thanks a lot for your support.
