Portrait of Distrait
Though the members of Distrait have collaborated on various other projects, this modern rock band was not officially formed until 2008. From Queen to Mariah Carey to Dream Theater to The Byrds, each member brings with them influence from almost every genre of music, hoping to achieve versatility and inspire creativity.

“While most bands are trying to find a certain style or sound, were running in the opposite direction almost to the point of not having a distinct sound…And I’m not really sure if that is completely stupid and detrimental to our career or if it’s insanely genius,” says lead-singer Brandi Simmons.

Guitarist Jeremy Page has already decided on this approach being a stroke of genius, adding that the band probably couldn’t stick to one main genre even if they tried. “We love all music, and we want our music to reflect that!”

Though Jeremy and Brandi have had some minor success in their past projects, only now do they say they feel they have something really special, and the attention currently being given by music industry veterans is only adding to the fuel. “We’ve loved the bands we were in before, but this time it just feels right; like the music is truly ours. Our songs are all written, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the three of us, so we feel very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish on our own” says Brandi. Jeremy adds that former Journey front man, Steve Augeri, has praised the band’s sound. “If my own Idol thinks highly of us then we have to be doing something right!”

Currently in the studio, the band will release a full-length, self-produced album in mid 2010 and plan to launch their first tour in the following fall.
