Portrait of Dukwon
DUKWON's BIO - Fresh off of the Summer 2006 Bow Wow Wanted Tour, DUKWON is moving crowds from Miami to New York and has been recognized as an electrifying stage performer by promoters and fans alike. Dukwon performed as the co-headliner at ESPNs Jax Live 2005 hosted by Alicia Keys for Super Bowl 39 in Jacksonville, FL. Dukwon has supported every major rap act to come through the First Coast sharing the stage with musics hottest acts like; Lil Wayne, T.I., David Banner, Trick Daddy, Mike Jones, Jadakiss, Young Jeezy, Field Mob and B2K. He has also performed at the St. Maarten Music festival, opening for Fabolous and Fat Joe. But gigs like this dont come easy, everybody has to pay dues and Dukwon was no exception. - In 2004 Dukwon was selected to compete as the only rap artist in the inaugural FTGU Youth Talent Showcase hosted by Alicia Keys. Facing eight other top-notch talent acts from Atlanta, New York, Miami and Washington, DC, Dukwon held his own to finish second with a great live performance which caught the eye of Alicia Keys Road Manager and founder of the showcase, DJ Walton. DJ signed Dukwon as the first rapper to Frum Tha Ground Up Music Management and started recording his first official album - In late 2005, Dukwon wrapped up production on his first official album titled Tha Landin which featured artists like Thrill Da Playa of the 69 Boyz, Jermaine Paul most noted for his feature in Alicia Keys single Diary and R&B singer Alju Jackson from the UPN TV show, "R U The Girl" with T-Boz & Chili. Tha Landin, named to introduce the official start of Dukwons career also a popular landmark in downtown, Jacksonville, demonstrates a fusion of old school hip-hop and modern day country rap. These tracks are factually my life, explains Dukwon, I aint no gangster or drug dealer, Im the one that kept straight and stayed focused, thats why my music feels so real, explains Dukwon. Sometimes real life is funny and sometimes it aint nothing to smile about but either way I'm gonna bring it to you through my music just like it is.
