Portrait of OllieTheMC
BIO

Born In Alkmaar, Holland, raised by Capeverdian parents and influenced by music made in the 80’s and 90’s, Ollie (formerly known as Colombo) started to make a name for himself in the late 90’s. Opening up for big national acts on local venues and fuelled by the worldwide explosion of the hip-hop scene Ollie started to make moves in the Dutch Capitol, Amsterdam. He appeared on a couple of mixtapes and caught the ear of a few members of a rap-collective called ‘The Proov’. While recording his demo they invited him to do a guest appearance on a track called Feel The Heat. That song, accompanied with the most expensive video in the history of Dutch pop music, ended up becoming the official theme song for EURO2000 (the European Soccer Tournament), which was held in The Netherlands and Belgium.

After getting heavy rotation on MTV, TMF and The Box Ollie branched out to do a couple of musical projects with some of Dutch’ finest artists before getting involved with singer Ali Tcheelab from Antwerp, Belgium. They got in the studio, Ollie penned a big part of the singer’s lyrics and did a featuring to top it off. The song San Pedro, released in 2004, got heavy rotation on TMF and the biggest Belgian radio station Radio Donna. After it hit the charts Ollie had to take a step back from performing and writing music due to some personal circumstances but he was able to keep making tracks in various studios and still record the base for things that are about to be released in the following period of time.

In the meantime Ollie appeared on the Global Connection mixtape from Kel Spencer (known for writing hitsongs like Switch for Will Smith). Currently Ollie is finishing up the Forrest Gump nettape that is scheduled for a release in the first week of September. Not to be confused with a conventional mixtape, this project contains 19 full songs with original productions from some off the most talented national and international producers.

Expect his music to be filled with life, love and everything in between. Hip-hop from a European point of view, with a worldwide appeal and a fresh splash of African influences. Not a man of big talk, Ollie lets the music speak for itself. Get with it, listen to it and enjoy it!
