Portrait of TiFFaNy JaNeLL
From the city that sweats and bleeds raw soul, breeding artists such as Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, The Roots and Jazmine Sullivan, Tiffany Janell's gift is no exception. She was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. As a young child Tiffany showed characteristics of a performer. She was constantly singing and dancing, in fact she was not the same apart from music. Tiffany’s mother new something must be done to feed her already apparent passion, so she enrolled her in ballet and jazz classes. But it did not end there: at the age of ten, Tiffany’s parents realized that their daughter has unparalleled vocal talents for a girl her age. From there Tiffany studied vocal, piano and salsa at the American Music Latin Association (AMLA) until the age of fourteen under her vocal coach, Venissa Santi. While at AMLA, Tiffany was featured in commercials for the television network Univision and performed in many plays and talent shows. At the age of 14, Tiffany was accepted into the prestigious Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, in which she studied theater, dance and music, solidifying her identity as a triple threat. Tiffany left her legacy at CAPA through her many performances in theater productions, teaching literacy to local elementary and middle school students in CAPA Caravan and by developing the first Puertorican/Hispanic heritage showcase. The Latino community is important to her and she continues to give back to her people by teaching salsa and using her former title of Ms. Teen Latina to promote positive images of Latina women. Yet her appeal transcends ethnicity and her beautiful gift of music touches all who hear it. She lives by the words: “Why be granted freedom if we don’t have the freedom to be ourselves”. This rising talent has graced countless Philly stages and touched the hearts of many, but she is destined to grace the world’s stages and touch innumerable hearts. She is a vocalist, dancer, actress, poet, songwriter and teacher . . . she is Tiffany Janell. So sit back, relax, and get ready to be entertained!
