Portrait of rope or bullets
Rope or Bullets was born in 2003 after a long run of moving around, finishing school, and finding ourselves (still a work-in-progress). The story began back in high school with two toy guitars, a boy, a girl, a passion for beat poetry, and a longing for change in the world. In response we founded SLOW and released two albums between 1999 and 2000, “Start” and “Pirates with Ties.” Most of our time was spent in Portland, OR where we launched our careers and gained early success opening for acts such as Sleater-Kinney, The Gossip, and Pansy Division. But, in 2002 the boy and girl had fallen in love with two different cities, and SLOW disbanded.

2003 brought a change of fate and the two forces came back together in the city where they were born and raised, Salt Lake City, UT; this time to unite and conquer under the name of Rope or Bullets. We have done several small tours and recently played with artists that include, MEN, Hey Willpower, BITCH, Scream Club, Gravy Train, and Northern State, to name a few. We have spent the last year working on this album. Foregoing the digital age this time around, “The Turns” was recorded on 2-inch reel-to-reel, giving it that warm, rich hiss that made rock n roll what it is.

Hope you enjoy “The Turns.” Stay tuned; we have lots planned for next year!
Thank you so much.
