Hailing from Northern Michigan, Griffin began his career in the music industry at the young age of 13. Since that time, the singer/songwriter/performer has spent the last 20 plus years entertaining folks of all ages in cozy, intimate pubs and coffee shops throughout the Upper Midwest, to the massive stages of Milwaukee’s famous Summerfest, Bradley Center and upper echelon, live music clubs in Mineapolis, MN.
Griffin sings and plays acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica in his solo act. He chooses not to use pre-recorded musical backing tracks, but instead uses a unique, rhythmic slap-style guitar method to make it sound as if there is a percussionist slapping out beats behind a curtain somewhere! Griffin’s voice has been described as a cross section of Rob Thomas, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, and Joe Cocker. His repertoire consists of over 150 songs from classics by the Beatles and Bob Dylan to contemporary artists like Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson, along with his own tunes. A crowd favorite of all ages, Griffin interacts with the audience by encouraging sing-alongs and plays an impromptu, “name that tune” game, where people can win free copies of his CD.
Griffin’s debut solo CD “Turn the Light On” was released and distributed nationally in 2004 through “The Orchard” (NYC). Track #7 “Barfly” (‘Kady dances every night’) received radio play in over 30 states. The CD is currently available online at all major music sites including “napster”, “I tunes”, “cdbaby.com”, “rhapsody”, etc.
