Portrait of Lilian Bui
Fresh out of college with two bachelors’ degrees (International Studies and Spanish from the University of California Irvine), Vietnamese-American singer/songwriter Lilian Bui or “Lily Bee” decided to put her plans for law school on hold to pursue a career in music.

Hailing from Orange County, California, Lily Bee has been making music since age 5 when her mom signed her up for piano lessons. At age 14, she locked herself in a room with her mother's guitar and taught herself the chords to "Louie, Louie" and began writing her own songs shortly after. Since then, she has added the ukulele, violin, and some mean egg shakers to her instrumental repertoire.

While citing early classical influence from her early piano training, Lily Bee’s musical style reflects her lighthearted nature yet carries the weight of a broad life experience. At 22, she has completed a full marathon, written and directed a musical, been the coordinator of a hip-hop dance team, worked on Capitol Hill, served in AmeriCorps, and traveled to various countries around the world - all of which contribute to her unique perspective as a singer/songwriter.
