Portrait of MENORES

Breaking out into the local spanish rock scene in 2005, with members not even old enough to drive and a genre of music different to what mainstream radio was offering the average latino listener, the band was in a constant struggle to find venues to play and opportunities were limited, but to be taken seriously was always a goal they achieved after playing their first song of the night. Most people when looking at a picture of Menores think the girl is the singer what a surprise they get when they find out she's actually the drummer. Norma Gonzalez the cool rockabilly chick from el D.F. Mexico started playing drums her freshmen year in High School which was where she met guitarist Salvador and lead singer Javi. Vince Garate would come in and complete the band with bass in 2007. Having been top 5 finalist in both Burger King's Tu Ciudad tu Musica and Sprint Battle of the Bands, Menores were more than ready for a challenge. In 2008 they were the only Spanish Rock band to play the Amplify Music Conference and recently the only band representing latin rock in the Emergenza Music Festival, by this time they had recorded and produced their first album "Muere la Ilusion", rocked out shows all over the west coast from Las Vegas (Amplify) (Beauty Bar), Reno, San Fransisco (Carnaval), Los Angeles (Westchester)(Fiesta Broadway), Hollywood (Knitting Factory) (The Roxy), San Diego (Sevilla) hasta Tijuana Mex. (Playas de Tijuana) and it’s sorroundings. "Muere la Ilusion" has gotten great reviews from its listeners. Combining different rock genres and giving their pop/rock product and alternative twist, each song is different from the one before it. Their first single and title track has already hit position 3 nationwide in the Latin Alternative Charts. If good things come to those who wait and hard work brings any indication of success then keep an eye out for this band with the unlikely drummer and unexpected sound. In 2009 Menores will be on tour promoting their debut album the so spread the word, Menores are here.
