About the ArtistDrill 187, a blistering five-piece that hails from Raleigh, NC. tempers aggressive music with melodic vocals and incomparable songwriting to create a unique sound in a world set upon by generic clones. This makes for a dynamic, heavy-hitting live experience that has attracted a loyal, dedicated regional fan base.
The band unleashed its first full-length album "The Faceless Majority" on September 3rd, 2002. With a national radio campaign and distribution in place, Drill 187 was set to catapult to the next level. "The Faceless Majority" is a dozen tracks of furious riffing, pounding rhythms and searing vocals delivered by a five-man band destined to make a mark on the metal community. Selling over 4000 copies of "Faceless" to date, it was a perfect follow-up to an eponymous EP released in 1999 that had already afforded the group critical acclaim and commercial success, selling 2500 copies of that disc. And when SLAYER Manager Rick Sales calls you, "The best band I've heard in 2002!", you can't really imagine that a time will come when the pitfalls of the music business prey on your every last nerve. However, as our boys from DRILL 187 can tell you...Everything comes with a price. That price was wraught with intense touring throughout 23 states and non-stop, D.I.Y. self-promotion and management to reach the top...Only to see it begin creating monetary issues, family obligations and a line-up that seemed to waver at times due to the stress. After completing their incredible, FMQB 27 charting album in the Top 100 in 2002/03 with "The Faceless Majority" and every "known" major label record exec, manager and producer courting the band, Drill 187 seemed to be on the cusp of joining Metal mavens like MUDVAYNE, SEVENDUST, GODSMACK, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED and others at the top of the heap. However, internal strife and mental exhaustion pulled at every fiber of the band's existence and finally caused their untimely break-up in late 2004.
Now back together after over a 4-year hiatus, Drill 187 has reformed in 2009 and is back on the scene again! Armed with the original group core line-up, writing strong new music, renewed ambition and the same meticulous DIY attitude that took them to the top before, Drill 187 is a band on the rise...Stay tuned to this page for breaking news and updates as they happen, lots of big announcements are coming soon...And so is Drill 187, coming soon to a stage near you!! STAY HEAVY!!!
