"I am married to my music. It's a relationship", says Maria, and although performing days are behind her, she continues to write and record only because she is "committed" to her musical relationship and her listeners. When MC isn't writing music or lyrics, she writes poetry which is just as deep and emotional as her music and singing
"Music is a stage drop, the singer an actor. A song must be portrayed and sung from the core of our being. If it isn't heartfelt, it's just material. We need to become the song--To be it, see it, live it, and make it a part of who we are so the listener can relate on a personal level. My music is for the listener. Not for myself".
