NIA KHALILAH

Born in Washington., DC as Nia Khalilah was bitten by the entertainment bug at the tender age of 3. She comes from a family filled with singers, dancers and musicians. Alongside her mother she joined The Cocho Senegalese African Dance Troupe. Every year they performed during the African Heritage Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. It never failed each December,during the Kwanzaa Season they performed through-out Delaware, Pennsylvania and the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area. Meanwhile, her father an accomplished gospel pianist created a Family Based Choir called the Wings of Faith. By the time Nia was 5 she was singing lead and bringing tears to the eyes of the young and mature. A few years later she joined another group called “The STOP Crew” with 8 other children. They performed for every major event that Washington, DC hosted. They even had the honor of becoming the Poster Choir for the Boarder Baby Project created by The White House. The political community fell in love with them so much, that they were invited to President’s Park (The White House) to perform at the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree Opening Ceremony. Year after year they melted the hearts of every American that had the pleasure of enjoying their show. Nia took a break from traveling with the group to focus on her education. But it wasn’t long before she had the urge to get back on the stage. She started writing and singing again, but tragedy struck. When the average person turns 21, they go out and celebrate and enjoy the momentous occasion. When Nia turned 21, she had no reason to celebrate in fact she was mourning the death of her son, Naji Malin. Her bundle of joy. She decided that she couldn’t allow that to stop her,she couldn’t mourn forever, that every challenge that’s thrown her way is for a greater purpose. She made the Bold decision to pack her bags and move to Los Angeles, CA. There, she was discovered while walking outside of a grocery store parking lot. A television producer saw something alluring in her. They introduced Nia to the director of the hit tv show “The West Wing”. Which was a prize opportunity for her. She scored many roles , “Zoey’s Friend” (Season 4 , Episode 22), “Regina” in the show Las Vegas and “The Mourner” in the show The District. From there she booked several independent films such as The Hot Spot, Urban Demographic and You’re the One. Nia then booked the E! Channel original series “INFAMOUS” where she played Sydney Simpson - O.J. Simpson’s daughter. While prepping for her day on set, she started singing in her dressing room. One of the P.A.’s heard her voice and things took off from there. She started working with Music Producer WoW Jones and it didn’t take long for the two of them to realize it was a match made in heaven. Because Nia has overcome so many obstacles and she wants to use her pain to help others, she and WoW Jones decided to create a unique and moving sound.

Nia Khalilah was blessed with a name that has Power. Nia means “Purpose” and Khalilah means “Friend”.
She loves sharing her story, her life’s struggle and her testimony, through song. She believes that it’s her Purpose to be a Friend to all who are hurting, lost and lonely and this can be accomplished with her voice. After a show-stopping performance at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA a fan expressed that there’s this exotic mystique about her. Something that he found intriguing. She likes to think that it’s her ability to be able to relate to other peoples pain effortlessly that draws them in. She and her team decided to give that mysterious persona a name, NiaDaFoxx.... It’s not quite an alter-ego, it’s the Sassy, Bold, No-Nonsense side of Nia Khalilah. Since life has thrown many daggers her way. She is equipped with a brazen and audacious personality which has helped to shape and create the being that we call NiaDaFoxx....
