About the Artist

In February of 2002, four guys from Rome, Italy began a project that would combine their individual musical styles with their appreciation for the new genre of popular punk rock music. With their goal in mind, they headed into a Roman garage to begin the process of blending their musical talents as one band, Vanilla Sky. Together, they recorded an unassisted demo with a sound whose quality would soon speak for itself. After much practice, Vanilla Sky took their sound to the stages of Rome. They performed at venues around the Eternal City with the songs from their first demo entitled, "Play It If You Can't Say It," which ended up being a real crowd pleaser. The catchy sound quickly led to sold out copies in less than two months.As word of Vanilla Sky spread across Italy, more experienced bands in the pop/punk rock scene began to take notice and invited them out on the road. This was a huge honor for the guys, giving them the opportunity to play throughout the country. After several successful tours supporting other acts, this Rome based band was approached by Wynona Records of Genoa, Italy with their first record deal.The Italian label gave Vanilla Sky the opportunity to record two splits, “Too Loud For You” and “The Rest Is History.” The second split was so successful it reached fans all the way in Japan via Ambience Records. The guys were stoked to learn that people so far from Rome were becoming fans of their music.With popularity exceeding all expectations, Vanilla Sky recorded their first full length album, “Waiting for Something” in 2003. After its release, they were invited to play at many prestigious rock festivals throughout Europe; they shared the stage with prominent bands like Forty Winks, The Break, Yellowcard, Flogging Molly, The Ataris, NOFX, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, The Hives, My Chemical Romance, and many more.Vanillas Sky’s talent, hard work, and dedication to their music with their relentless touring to please fans in Europe and Japan have led to their success. After selling 25,000 copies of their debut album, and over 5,000 of their EP, they caught the attention of many European and international personalities in the music business—specifically Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 and +44. After collaborating in the studio with Hoppus, Vanilla Sky took time from touring and spent a year, writing, arranging, and fine tuning songs from 2006 to record their second full length album. Unfortunately the most of the data was lost and the guys had to rerecord the album. Despite the set back, they quickly finished the record, and returned to the stages of Europe.As media attention grew, Vanilla Sky received several offers from the biggest companies in the music business. They finally signed with major recording label, Universal, who launched their new record, “Changes,” on June 22, 2007.Since that time, the band has continued to tour throughout Europe and has even launched a video podcast, which takes a look at life on the road, in the studio, and at home.
