acoustic- of, pertaining to, or being a musical instrument whose sound is not electrically enhanced or modified.
As soon as an instrument is recorded, it is no longer acoustic. The only instrument that was not recorded from it's original acoustic expression is the bass guitar and guitar synth, which was however generated by an acoustic guitar. The common mis-perception of 'acoustic' as it pertains to music is too often that it must be some sort of sentimental, melancholic, folky, sappy, dry lyrics with a sense of longing, loss and innocence. Bowing endlessly to the established songwriting forms of verse, pre-chorus, chorus, do it again, bridge... there are already too many people defining their songwriting by the expectations of others safe and hallowed opinions
Trial By Style was written as a musical response of sorts to my dissatisfaction with what is too often expected of not just me, but us, as musicians, songwriters, performers and creative people. Each person has their voice, their own particular style, their own passions and motivations. You, Rex are obviously very passionate otherwise you would not have posted the same comment twice. Enjoy your passion, express it and if others can't understand what you do, that's their problem.
