More about the storyline. I am a staunch atheist and look at this a little differently than most theist would. For me, the child in the story is nothing more than a seed. We are driven to have sex because of our instinctual need that is passed down so that the human race can survive. If we did not fall victim to it, no children would be produced and thus the human race would cease to exist. Thus those that do reproduce pass on those genes and so on and so on and the human race is now ruling the planet and is quite overpopulated. My mother is a Pantheist and believes that every person is a unique soul that comes in to this earth (after living 1000's of past lives before this one) with their own mission and whatnot. I couldn't disagree more with that. The child in this story is nothing more than a seed from the mother which seems to be a selfish slut. I don't feel terribly sorry for the child as I realize that the mothers actions are morso hurting her OWN SEED rather than a completely unique person. I hear stories of mothers throwing away their children in the trash. Eh... to me nothing more than a seed falling off a tree and never becoming another tree... Do we even want that child that gets thrown away to grow up anyways? It has all the genes that the mother had and will likely have exhibited similar behaviors down the road anyways..
