I'm infatuated with this song. The Tommy Shaw (ish) intro, great vocals as fimiliar and strong to me as Rock Voisine. Heavy solid backup, sweet changes and interludes. Intelligent, well crafted...... and here is the dreaded word, But!
Something is preventing me from crossing the threshold of technical amusement and comparison, to really falling in love with it. Why? you ask.
After some thought................
Ah!!! I think its because the lyric content is so specific and focused, I found my self observing rather than participating.
Although and definitly the song hits the archetype strings of Home town pride, Civic Honour, Hope for the future and even Duty, these strings dampen quickly.
So! I'm left infatuated and I'll say I love you, But just know now that when the next girl band I hear grabs me by the boys and says hey M.F. your gonna be my back seat driver, I'm gone
