this is because the song is a part of an ALBUM, and is meant to be heard in succession of other songs. i'd rather be an artist that makes good, emotionally connecting music instead of a flash in the pan with a 'pop' single. if this makes me lose the 'contest' then so be it.

ha....the intro is only about 8 measures long, and sadly, most folks think that is long...shows that we are way in the age of 'instant gratification', and sadly, i even fall into that trap....not a dis to the comment below at all---i do like this song, and actually, the intro is appropriate for the song---love how one of the first lines is about being patient.....i've started singing right away on my own songs too for the reason that robert mentions, though it saddens me to think we are heading this way....
