This is an excellent song - very well done. As to the direction of modern jazz (see note from jimmy gray below), I think that most people who like jazz would not see this song as typical of the genre. In many senses it has moved too far away. As you indicate, it has so many influences. I also hear a bit of proressive rock in the guitar...
smooth. this is the direction modern jazz needs to go. fusing pop, r and b, latin, etc.. i dont know whats so hard for people to understand that we cant just play this dead peoples music and not add to it.. thank you.
