I would like to offer some advice to the engineers out there who are tracking and mixing female rock songs. Listen to the clarity in the voice, and note the frequency the guitar comes in at. There are several recordings in this competition where the guitars are 'walking' all over the small female voice. A simple way to manage this is to do a sub mix (summation of all instruments) down to a stereo track pre master - where you can insert a frequency compressor plug in. Bring up the female voice on a spectrum analyzer, and determine the contour. Take this contour and invert it (turn it upside down). That frequency que and contour will now dip down into those frequencies the female voice naturally occupies.
These ladies are doing a great job, you engineers out there need to keep up with their level of excellence.
