The band was recently nominated for the Top Advant Garde Act by the Asbury Park Music Awards and has won the 2007 Crusade Contest battle of bands and played at the Saints and Sinners festival
Started in the winter of 2007 by founding members Thor Fister (Lead Vocalist, and Acoustic Guitar), Shawn Garafa (Electric Guitar), and Lex Ford (Drums, Percussion, Vocals) as an outlet for musical expression and performance in the acoustic vein. As the music evolved it became necessary to add other members to fully express the synthesis that was happening. With the addition of James Malouf (Piano, Keys) and Dave Grimes(Bass Guitar, Vocals) the group was solidified and A Diary of Need was born. Collectively the members of A Diary of Need have played with bands such as Glassjaw, Against Me!, Saves The Day, The Dreaming (Members of Stabbing Westward), Gene Loves Jezebel, Megadeath, Exodus, The Vandals, Thursday, The Gathering, Suicide City,Tub Ring, West Indian Girl, and many many others..
