About Chris Shaw
east Brunswick, NJ
What defines a superstar? Is it raw talent? or the undeniable magnetism of a person? Chris Shaw knows. Since the age of 7, he has been pursuing his dream of one day being a successful singer/songwriter. While faced with many challenges along the way, MUSIC was the driving force that kept him going. Shaw got his first chance at showing his talent by joining the group "6 in Covenant", a church group formed by himself and some young men from his local church. A few years later, the group disbanded. Disappointed but inspired, Chris looked for other ways to use his talent: spending many nights alone in his room writing poems, short songs, rapping and experimenting with graffiti art. When approached by his Godmother Cardenia Monroe (of Cardenia Monroe & Praize) to sing tenor in her group, he jumped at the chance to once again prove his talent.
At age 19, he reunited with his godbrother and current producer, Aaron "Dboy" Monroe(Souldiggaz, Missy Elliot, Monica) and the two expressed interest in truly becoming a musical team. A few years later, the two began working diligently at a Gospel/Inspirational album. However, what was really on his heart was to tell his story...to paint pictures for the listeners in hopes of helping them to connect with him as a person. With that in mind, early 2009, they stopped production for the gospel album. Both Shaw and Dboy felt it was time to be true to themselves so they sought out their sound, spending days in the studio producing records that would hit the airwaves and bring true artistry back to Music. The finished product: Radio Hitz, Shaw's first EP to be released under the LaB Records label, which Dboy and himself spearhead.
From Jazz to classical, from hip-hop to R&B, from Rock to Country...Chris Shaw has been influenced by it all. With the release of his first single entitled "One Day", he is ready to prove to the world that he is not ONLY the best kept secret, but that he is no longer willing to be a secret anymore. Stay tuned.
