About Da Author

Cortland, NY

Da Author (1978- ) is an African American poet, musician, and writer of powerful poetry and controversial music that addresses poverty in urban communities. DA Author has graced stages all across the country but primarily in New York State. While in Albany,he's done T.V. interviews all across the tri-city region; the most notable was his interview with Carla Page on the Schenectedy Today Show. His biggest venues have been performed at the EMPIRE STATE PLAZA, (where he participated in the statewide 2007 MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY CELEBRATION) and at the NUYORICAN POETS CAFE. Da Author has performed with many artists including BLACK ICE (FROM HBO'S RUSSEL SIMMONS DEF POETRY),MIGUEL ALGARIN (POET, WRITER, AND CO FOUNDER OF THE NUYORICAN POETS CAFE), GEORGE HUFF(SEASON 3 AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST), and many more. He recorded "I CHARGE Y'ALL BUY THE WORD" IN 2002. He signed with Heelan Publishing Company and has been a member of ASCAP since 2005. However, he is now an independant artist. Be on the look out for his new spoken word CD comming soon. As a writer,he wrote his first book entitled "I CHARGE Y'ALL BUY THE WORD" IN 2003. You can check Barnes and Nobles for available copies.
