About Exile Kings
New York, NY
Exile Kings is an NYC based indie music project started by Manoo Halati. The music crosses and combines different genres from alternative rock to singer /songwriter. Some songs are fast and driving while others are mellow and moody laced with strings and piano.
The project was born in early 2009 when singer/songwriter Manoo Halati quit his job and began playing music in earnest after years of letting music fall to the wayside.
"Over the years I had turned into someone I didn't recognize. I was stuck in a job I didn’t really care about and felt like my life was going nowhere, so I decided to quit and take a couple months to regroup. It was during this time of quiet and introspection that I began connecting with music in ways I hadn't for years."
Soon afterwards Manoo hooked up with Brooklyn producer Craig Levy (aka Little Pioneer). Together they began laying down tracks and experimenting with song arrangements. Without intending to somewhere along the line it became clear that they were making an album and “Shine” was born.
After recording the album Manoo hooked up with Hommy Rosa (drums), Dan Austin (guitar), and Paul Merson (bass) -three musicians that have played together in various bands in the NYC music scene. The four have been crafting a live sound and writing new songs in the city’s various rented rehearsal studios. The energy and creative process of each individual member is helping defining a unique sound and aesthetic for the band.
Exile Kings are currently playing live shows in the Brooklyn and NYC.
