Anthony Jerome Lezama Jr. (Born November 20, 1990) better known by his stage name Anthony King, is an American rapper, songwriter, occasional singer and record producer. Born and raised in New York between Harlem and Brooklyn King began writing music mainly Hip Hop at the age of 14 influenced by a close friend in High School. After hearing the debut album of Kanye West "The College Dropout" he grew very fascinated with rap music and furthermore studied and increased on knowledge of Hip Hop. Writing and performing spoken word was a method he used to hone his writing skills and speech delivery. And soon after closing poetry slams in his school he taught himself to produce music thus helping him create original songs.
This past March 2011 King released his long anticipated debut mixtape "King Of Hearts" after a year and a half of work. In the process of recording the debut effort in DaMatrix Studios located in the Bronx he casted a great amount of music artists to be apart of the release. From fellow members of his independent label to the likes of Georgia's upcoming singer-songwriter Gwen Bunn the mixtape showcases a wide variety of music. He pushes to blend genres such as Hip Hop , R&B, Smooth Jazz, Downtempo, Neo-Soul & Rock all into one. More so to the cause getting his music to display different aspects isn't a difficult task as not only is King's love for rap is great so is his love for R&B and Soul. With his fondness for singing in a distant crooner like style he's often cited his claim to fame stating "I'm 90% Rapper, 10% Singer".
King cites Kanye West , Lauryn Hill , Sade , Jay-Z , Big L , J. Cole , Andre 3000 , Frank Ocean, Drake, The R&B Era of (Aaliyah , Missy Elliot, Ginuwine & Timbaland) , DMX , John Legend & Little Brother as his musical influences.
