- Critically acclaimed acoustic duo scheduled to headline prestigious Jacksonville venue's 2010 Season kickoff -

Jacksonville, OR - Northwestern-based acoustic / folk rock duo Gypsy Soul has been announced as the headlining act of Britt Festival's 2010 Season opening night, scheduled for Sunday, June 13 (show starts at 6:30 pm with opening act, Hamfist and Sweetgrass).

With the advent of this show, Gypsy Soul will join the ranks of hit recording artists such as Allison Krauss & Union Station, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor, Keb Mo, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Isaac, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Moody Blues, Emmylou Harris, The Black Crowes, Cowboy Junkies and numerous others - all of whom have performed at this 2,000-seat outdoor theater located in the heart of S. Oregon wine country.

Gypsy Soul has insistently followed an independent path of positivity, deep spirit, community contribution and celebration - and this prestigious invitation to perform as a headliner on such a festive night comes on the heels of ten years' worth of sold-out shows in the S. Oregon area. The group has sold over 110,000 CDs and 1.5 million digital downloads and has had over 120 placements in TV shows and motion pictures, including such high profile shows as Felicity, Providence, Roswell and After Sex. The band has been named as critic’s choice in over sixty magazines and other publications, and climbed diverse radio charts nationwide - all without the benefit of outside label support. Gypsy Soul's forthcoming new recording - Grace and Tranquility (a collaboration with lyricist and author Eric Alan) - is scheduled for national release on August 10, 2010, with a special pre-release scheduled to coincide with the Britt Festival appearance.

"We are extremely thrilled to be headlining on such a key night at Britt Festival," says the duo's vocalist, Cilette Swann. "These sorts of invitations are an honor, especially when you're an independent act and have the chance to perform where so many legendary acts have graced the stage."

Independence and integrity have defined the path of vocalist Cilette Swann and multi-instrumentalist/producer Roman Morykit, known as the critically acclaimed duo, Gypsy Soul. The group's musical roots may be naturally traced to Celtic and Americana realms but further listening reveals the wilder and deeper edges of rock, blues, jazz and world influences interspersed throughout. Gypsy Soul's music - and the greater purpose behind it - deeply affects lives. Fans themselves donated over $27,000 for the recording of Beneath the Covers: A Rediscovery (winner of the international Just Plain Folks award for Best Cover CD) and replaced a new dobro for Morykit after all of the band’s gear was stolen while on tour. Always working to pay it forward and give back to the community, Gypsy Soul's annual benefit concerts in Oregon have raised enough money to provide 20,000 meals for the indigent, as well as over $15,000 for WinterSpring, an organization transforming bereavement into healing.

Gypsy Soul’s own Voices Unheard project is another outlet in which these two gracious artists give back. Initially designed to help aspiring musicians get traction in the music business, Voices Unheard’s scope has broadened to empower and give voice to numerous causes including women and children affected by human and sex trafficking in South East Asia and other countries. “Through the tiny platform we’ve created as musicians we’ve got an outlet in which to share those causes closest to our hearts. It’s Voices Unheard’s objective to lighten the burdens of the voiceless and raise awareness and support for their often silent and overlooked causes. Swann adds.
