At the age of 0, Justin was born legally blind in his left eye. After missing several game-winning shots in several sports, he soon realized that his path might lay in an area that did not require good depth perception. He began to take voice lessons.

At the age of 13, he received his first guitar and never put it down - to the annoyance of his friends and family. He quickly gravitated to the drums, the bass, the piano, and the harmonica. He also, unfortunately, gravitated to the bottle.

At the age of 21, Justin was informed by doctors that he was drinking himself to death. Tipping the scales at 300 pounds, Justin was a very big animal. He chose to live, quit drinking, and lost 100 pounds.

At the age of 25, Justin had a large tumor removed from his abdomen. The surgery was extremely dangerous, and if the surgeon had hiccuped, Justin would have died. The surgeon didn’t hiccup, however, and Justin began to record the songs he had been writing for many years. He performed every sound on each album.

At the age of 30, Justin graduated from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During his education, he acquired all sorts of superfluous knowledge such as how to play the flute, upright bass, trumpet, saxophone, cello, and trombone, as well as how to go through life without ever using the quadratic equation.
