Middi was born Freeman Liddell III in Pittsburgh, PA. His gift for writing became very apparent at the age of 12, when he first started to write poetry. While in school, he entered, and sometimes won, poetry and writing contests. During his teen years, Middi was exposed to the street temptations so synonymous with many of his fellow friends and other rap artists. And like so many of his contemporaries, a change in circumstance at a pivotal time changed the course of Middi’s life. After this event, Middi made the decision to avoid these street temptations and channeled his time and energy into his writing and his music.
Middi debuted locally in the summer of 2005 and quickly made it apparent to his fans that he was capable of being an exceptional artist; a rapper with truly universal appeal and a flawless delivery. As a result of his hard work, Middi has developed a style that knows no boundaries. His music can touch all fan bases including East Coast, West Coast, Dirty South, and even the pop crowd. Middi’s tracks can span all emotional levels, from “Who’s For the Young” which calls out his critics for not believing in his ability, to “Club Lights” which is a track that will get the dance floor moving.
By relentlessly grooming his talent and mastering his art, Middi is more than ready for the big stage. Middi has polished his talent by performing in many music venues in and around his hometown of Pittsburgh. He has also gained very valuable experience through opening up shows for major artists such as Jadakiss, Styles P, Mimms, Fabolous, The Game, Lloyd Banks, Mobb Deep, Scarface, and Young Jeezy.
Middi’s first mixtape “Free Lunch” was met with rave reviews and has given Middi the respect of many local studios, producers and artists in the Pittsburgh area. Currently, Middi has his sights set on expanding nationally with his next CD release. His recent signing with local startup Pittsburgh based record label “Play on Records” will only help Middi in reaching the next level in his music career. The latest creation is set to be released in August 2011 under his new recording family.
