About Ownkind

lower plenty, Australia

Ownkind is your new favorite band. Hailing from small suburbs outside of Melbourne, the group was created in early 2006. They spent their early days jamming together, writing new music and reinventing existing tunes from their scattered pasts. The guys are all in their mid to late twenties and currently have more energy than ever before. This is evident in some of their new material.

Members of Ownkind each bring their own flavor of rock and personality to the band. Ben-Avi, on vocals is a moody perfectionist and whether writing, recording or performing, Ben-Avi’s enigmatic presence brings all the flair you would expect of a front man and more. Craig is the total package, he's got the look, the attitude, the ripping guitar solos and is so well suited to Ben-Avi's vocals to the extent that the two sometimes appear to become one. Luke delivers a loud, solid drumming technique to the band, beating his drums with a visceral ferocity that is fantastic to watch and even better to listen to. These beats are used to great effect in Ownkind’s hard-hitting rock songs. Pete or Empire Overlord as some may call him on bass guitar maintains the balance to what can be a crazy ship, holding Ownkind together with a tight, thumping bass sound. Pete's melodic bass lines serve to compliment the vocal and guitar melodies on offer from the guys standing either side of him. In Early 2009 Ownkind added Jarrod as a second guitarist. Some say he is the tallest man in the world other would say he is just tall.

Together, the guys offer the full spectrum. From their radio-friendly melodies to their all-or-nothing blow-em-away numbers, where each instrument seems to be competing with the rest whilst simultaneously performing a dance of rhythm and ecstasy.

You haven’t lived until you have been to an Ownkind show, and their EP, ‘A Moment of Clarity’ is a must have.
