About Paul "Mayo" Mayasich

White Bear Lake, MN

Slide guitarist/singer/songwriter, Paul "Mayo" Mayasich, is a native of the Iron Range of Minnesota where he began playing guitar at an early age. He moved to Minneapolis in 1987 and fell into a weekly jam at Red's Roost (aka Blues Alley) where he honed his unique style with the likes of Jack McDuff, Willie Walker, Big John Dickerson, Billy Holloman, just to name a few. Paul soon played sideman for many regional and national recording artists and toured extensively in the United States and Europe. Paul continues to play with his own band as well as solo. He continues to play with touring bands upon request.

Paul has four critically acclaimed CDs to his name along with having written five of the songs on the award-winning CD by Blue Chamber with Big John Dickerson including the title track, Arms of the Blues, which won a MN Music Award for Best Blues recording of the year.

Front and center in his own band now, Paul continues to write, play and sing many Mayasich originals. This band is a force to be reckoned with and is a club and festival favorite. The songlist includes a variety of music including roots, soulful blues, rock, unique re-worked covers, to original funk and gut-bucket tunes written by Paul Mayasich. The trio has its own unique sound but one can detect influences from Allman Brothers, Little Feat, Ry Cooder, Roy Buchanan and David Lindley.
