Occupation:Performance Poet, Writer, Teacher, Director of Poetic Tuesday's, Speaker, recording artist,Scientist, producer & God fearing Black man.

The Earth has given birth to a very inspiring, modern day poet. Poetic X, born Hugh Hamilton, has swept crowds throughout the south with his powerful, spiritual, angelic delivery. He delivers with such passion and emotion. He has done shows with and/or headlined by Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, The Winans, Shirley Murdock, Tony Henry Rev. Timothy Wright, State Senator Lydia Jackson, local leaders, artists, and a host of others. He began writing at 15, after his English teacher (Mrs. Inocencio) gave him an assignment on city life. It was at that point Poetic made a decision to make poetry his lifetime friend. Growing up in the Lakeside community, his teen years were smothered by the hardships of trying to survive and stay focused in an area that was barely focused and surviving itself. In 1997 he was sent to L.T.I. ( A juvenile facility) for 2 years. It was here he called upon the love of God and developed a relationship with him. “ I haven’t missed a prayer since my first day of arriving there,” says Poetic. The next day he would be involved in a major wreck that killed one of the boys and crushed his knee. “ I told myself that I would make the best out of that experience, not only for me, but for God, my life, and my mom who had a stroke when I was 14,” says Poetic. He spent the next two years becoming a better man. He received his G.E.D, took his A.C.T. (Score of 27) and attended Grambling State University in the fall of 1999 as an English major. Poetic then took his craft back to his hometown of Shreveport, La. His poem entitled “Miss Katrina” quickly gained him recognition. He has performed at the Funny Bone, Josh Lounge, Full Moon Bistreaux, Black Shrine of Madonna, The Sankofa, Black Forest, Shreveport & Bossier Civic Center, Pamoja Arts Society, The Shadow Bar, The Warehouse, Café Madrid, Arna Bontemp Museum, The Jambalaya Show, The Java House, Blue Velvet, Grambling State, Lsus, SULSA, and many more schools, colleges, churches, community events and many, many other events. He is also a 2006 Poetry Slam winner. He has been printed in the Shreveport Sun, Shreveport times and Destiny One Journal. He has also been on KSLA Channel 12 news, Channel 5 (Alexandria, LA) BET, Ch. 16 (Longview, Tx) and many more
Recently he was accepted to the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. He is the reciepient of the 2008 SRAC Fellowship Award. He is the winner of the 2009 “Bona-Fide” performance award. He has won poetry slams, which he cares not to perform in. He was recently in concert with Houston based artist Tony Henry. He is currently touring promoting albums. He’s back in the studio again to bring you “Journey of The Candid X-Man.” Look out for new videos and D.V.D. coming soon. This is only the beginning. Continue to follow this artist as he makes his mark on the world.

Hello my people. Your's truly (Poetic X) I am a spoken word artist from Shreveport. Poetry has introduced me to so many characters inside myself. I've discovered I'm a scientist, astronomer, teacher, director, etc. I love being tuned into the spiritual realm. I'm still me at the same time. I belong to no orginizations except that of the Creator. I'm verbally, physically, mentally, socially grinding for Poetry at all times. I totally understand my trials and tribulations have purified me for this process. I love music! All kinds. I walk by faith and faith alone. I'm still cool as a fan and down to Earth as well. I remain humble and open-minded. Those wanting to talk, talk. I'll be sure to respond.
