Andre “Protégé” Rush born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 11, 1988. Raised in A single parent home by his mother Linda Rush. Diagnosed at birth with Sickle Cell Anemia, Protégé has had to overcome many obstacles. No stranger to hard work, Protégé found that he had a talent for music at a very young age. Needing a musical guidance, he was taking up under the wing of his older cousin Eric Smith. By having this mentor Protégé was able to learn and critique talents that he would find later useful.
Being nothing less then a fighter, Protégé made sure to keep music first even though he was hospitalized most of his life. Sense writing was one of the only things he could do, music seemed even more like the route he should take. By pulling strength from his everyday life, he was able to maintain focus and turn negative situations into catchy hooks and passionate lyrics. That gift would prove vital when dealing with his life of illness and the death of his only sibling, Darrell Rush.
Granted the chance of a life time, Protégé was able to meet musical role model Carl “Twista” Mitchell. Which inspired him even more to move forward in his music career. So in mid two thousand and nine he took the next step and performed his single “Stunna Shades” live for the first time. Being inspired by the energy of the crowd, it gave Protégé the confidents to continues is rise to the TOP!
