About Rizzo Matix
Rizzo is a rap artist from New Orleans, LA. He started his career in the 1990’s as a member of a group called “Officially Fresh”. Rizzo began a solo career in the late 90's. While still in high school Rizzo went on to win numerous talent shows throughout the New Orleans area.
While working on his first solo album, he was approached by Tawio Ogungbe of King Shaka Pitchers/Records, to contribute two songs for the company’s upcoming movie “To Take A Life”. When Ogungbe heard one of the songs ( “Short While”) he asked Rizzo to sign to his African based record label. Rizzo signed with King Shaka Records and released the album “Short While”.
Rizzo was nominated for a Big Easy award, Best New Rap Album, against Cash Money Records’ The Hot Boys, In New Orleans, LA.
After a performance in Alexandria, LA where Rizzo was the head-liner for Family Day in The Park, Rizzo was awarded the Key to the City by the Mayor.
Rizzo went on to achieve international success, The song, “Superstar” hit the #1 spot on the Nigerian charts. The Song “Super Star” also produced the #1 rap video from an American artist.
Rizzo has worked with artist like Colin England (Motown), Mahogany Blue (MCA), Kane and Able (No limit/Most Wanted/Universal), Ed West, Dart (Park Way) and producers like platinum producer Ezell Swang, UFT Productions, Colin England etc.
Rizzo’s television appearances includes: Nigerian hip/hop video show “Prime Time Jams”, In Lagos, Nigeria, “Louisiana Juke Box” In New Orleans, LA., where his performance achieved a place on “The Best of Louisiana Juke Box,” “Hip/ Hop Half Hour”, also in New Orleans L.A. and many more.
