Aaron Smith aka Sicksteen was born in Louisiana May 16, 1987. His parents were both in the military and their travels took him to Oklahoma, Germany, and finally his father's hometown Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 12.
This is when was first introduced to Hip Hop and purchased his first rap album Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. At first, it was just an experiment to see if he too could write rhymes but it turned into a way to express himself and unleash his creativity in a way he has never before.
Sicksteen's three major influences are Jay-Z, Lloyd Banks, and Joe Buddens. Jay-Z for his ability to create any type of song, Lloyd Banks for his witty punchlines and vocabulary, and Joe Buddens for the truth he puts into his music. He coined the name Sicksteen because the standard verse has 16 bars, he felt he was a sick teen, and his birthday fell on the 16th, it was just in the stars.
Sicksteen released his mixtape DeKapitation April 25th and is currently on a mission to get his music and sound to the public without compromising the complexity and depth he puts into his lyrics. But whether or not you understand him there is no denying his talent or drive to be heard.
