Just think of it as a soul “reality check” reunion. It’s been a long time coming but the sound of Suite 215’s Shekhinah B, Art Carr, Ericka Glenn, and Jonett D’Veauxbray will remind you that there is a soul factor in all genres of music that cannot be denied; and neither can they.
Whether it was singing just out of diapers, learning music instrumentation and integrity at the school of performing arts, self teaching to vinyl and 8 tracks or learning your range extends into the whistle register while accidently practicing a rap song, this quartet share a common thread; the love of the soul and how beautifully it can manifest itself through music and song.
After opening, singing and playing back up for major acts such as Sister Sledge, Neo, & Patti Labelle, as well as inking spots on “American Idol” and “Clash of the Choirs” the quartet that continued to hone their craft singing solo at live band sets throughout the city of Brotherly Love decided it was time to campaign collectively as “soul survivors”.
Their mix of r and b, pop, rock, soul, jazz and inspiration, is as cosmopolitan as ice cream and goes down as smooth. Made from some of the best stuff on earth, their vocal time capsule can swing you into the 30’s and 40’s, funk you through the 70’s while soul surviving the 80’s and 90’s sounding nothing short of a natural transition. The band easily evokes solo comparisons to Gladys Knight, Jimmy Hendrix, Billie Holiday, Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey and Patti Labelle, while collectively the Beatles, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Fleetwood Mac and Atlantic Starr come to mind.
This is just the beginning of “The Suite” evolution so sit back, and watch as they continue to invent and reinvent artistry because just when you think its “Suite”……….
