About The Fine Grain
The Fine Grain is a Nasville-based indie/rock band with musicians Jon Grady, Ryan Thomas, Brandon Robertson and Garrett Merrion. Formed in 2009, the band recorded their first album entitled "Flying You Like A Kite", which was released on September 25th.
Flying You Like a Kite is comprised of 10 songs all written to reflect the authentic, emotional and raw experiences of music. The album’s concept portrays an individual’s journey with spirituality and a face-to-face meeting with the devil. The first track, "Mother", tells of a boy who’s been drafted and scared to go to war. Halfway through the album you’ll find "Starving the Storm" putting you in the devil’s shoes as you provoke a man on his deathbed. Towards the end, "Cheap Coffee" finds a boy scared to grow up because of the faults he sees in himself… "you said, don’t smile that man that you see in the mirror, if he looks like you he took your soul."
With timeless questions concerning both suffering and hope, the album finds the individual reflecting on how his actions have effected both himself and others.
