About The Hope State
saskatoon, Canada
The Hope State was created by Taylor Johnson while He was attending school in Los Angeles. His feelings of being lost and isolated in a city driven by everything he hated were channeled into crafting new songs and re-writing older songs he had written while in Saskatoon based bands; Paying in traffic and Peacetime Emergency. After moving to Toronto for a short time, Taylor moved back to his hometown and decided to record the songs he had been working on. Up until this point Taylor had been playing showcases in New York and LA under the moniker "Like the Knife' and decided a more positive name was more reflective of the message he was trying to convey under the haunting imagery presented in his songs, Thus The Hope State was born. They Played their first show in the summer of 2009 and are finishing their first EP entitled "TheDaySheDied" which will be out in the summer of 2010. Keep your eyes peeled, because you do not want to miss them when they roll through your town.
