Upcountry music is an idea started to promote the music of WILLIE NORTON. His style and breath of song writing covers an eclectic range in a very original style
Willie was raised in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Listening to music that ranged from old front porch blues and gutbucket country, evOlving into rock, some jazz, classical and home cooking styles.
"The songs and musicans that catch my ear now days, are the ones who play and sing original songs about people and exsperiances in life. I have a couple of songs that do that, but people like GREG TROOPER, JAMES HAND,are real good at it[and others I can't recall right now]
Of course there's the Youngs: Neal Young, and Jesse C. Young. The early Stones plus[Exile On Main Street,Wild Horses, Goats Head Soup]. San Francisco Bay area music scene circa 1964-1968 "Yea Baby" you missed that train!!!
