About YP Dawrita

Temple Hills MD, MD

Born October 25, 1984 in Washington, D.C., The second eldest son of 9 children born to Prince and Kim Davis.Prince's early childhood and youth were marked by relocation and was a fast-paced struggle. After his family was evicted from any inner city neighborhood in D.C.at the age of three, Prince and his family moved to Pennsylvania to live with a close friend of the family. In the following years his dad purchased a home, and Prince and his family relocated several different times to states including; Maryland, Colorado, Oklahoma, California, and Nevada.
Prince, growing up in a family involved heavily in church since birth; with his father being the pastor at a church in D.C., attended church regularly (four times a week), and had a strong desire to fit in. Prince attended Avalon elementary school in Fort Washington, and played the saxophone in music class where he was one of the best. Prince and his family were also very musically oriented, and as a child he and his siblings would often sing and play instruments with their mother as entertainment. From the age of 3, Prince had a passion for music. Prince began to play the drums, and later perfected this gift when began playing at his father's church. At twelve years old Prince began pressing keys on the piano, putting together melodic chords beautiful to his ears.
As a child Prince was very outgoing and loved to make people laugh, sometimes a little too outgoing, and got himself into trouble and Despite his upbringing in church, and the purpose that God had for his life in music and ministry, Prince chose to allow himself to be influenced negatively and began to be involved actively in the streets. While being in the midst of gang activity on several different occasions, Prince, by the grace of God managed to escape death numerous times. After several run-ins with the law, Prince found himself being incarcerated for years at a time, forcing him to put his love for music on hold. During his incarceration at sixteen years old, Prince discovered a few unique gifts he possessed that included; singing, writing, dancing, and making beats. He used his talents and abilities to amuse and entertain his fellow inmates and guards on a daily basis. Prince also began writing poetry, that later became songs about everyday life situations and love.
After realizing that he would remain incarcerated for a long period of time, Prince decided to focus on and master what had become a special and valuable prize possession to him.............music. While incarcerated at the age of eighteen, Prince matured not only in age, but in his actions, speech, behavior, decision making, and ability to take responsibility. Prince had access to listen to, learn and study various musicians during his incarceration. Prince began to study different artists such as: Brandy,Kim Burrell,J.Moss,Tank,Glenn Lewis,Mario,Joe, and Faith Evans. And great song writers like Neyo, and James Fauntleroy.
Prince adored his name but felt it necessary to have a name associated with his personality while on the stage performing and in the studio in the near future.Memories in his youth of friends and family calling him "Young Prince" and his desire to stay young helped him decide. So,as a young songwriter "Young Prince" also referred to as "YP Da Writa,"pursues success as he strives forward in the music industry.
In the process of perfecting and maturing his musical abilities, "YP" became a member of ASCAP. As a member "YP" began receiving amateur writing gigs for upcoming artists as well as R&B artists Joe, Bobby Valentino, and B-5. "YP" longed to be an entertainer and began doing shows in Las Vegas at casinos, colleges, clubs and lounges. With a desire to learn more about entertaining, "YP" studied dancers like; Omarion, Justin Timberlake,Chris Brown, and Usher as well as the choreography from movies like; "You Got Served", and "Stomp the Yard".YP's ability to learn quickly allowed him to be able to perform different dances such as poplocking and hiphop dancing.
Now with ability to perform while entertaining the crowd,"YP" desires to further his career in music by singing professionally, performing live on stage and writing hits for various artists. He also believes that music is a lifestyle and it must be lived and valued with passion and sincerity, so he has chosen to dedicate himself to it completely, and to all that is required with it.
