About The Hot Cross Buns
The Hot Cross Buns consist primarily of lead singer, guitarist, piano player, and drummer Kelly Brannan and Bass player, back up singer, and trombonist Erek Bell. The duo from the middle of Illinois record and produce their own music as well as play shows around the middle Illinois area. The band started in 2010 when Kelly Brannan and Erek Bell met from a mutual friend. From then on out the two have messed around with punk, alternative, grunge, and indie sounds in a traditional sense as well as a non-traditional sense. Since being together, the two have produced four full length albums in a matter of two years starting with their first entitled “Expendable C.D.” in 2010. The two members of the Hot Cross Buns are also both apart of side projects such as HealthFreek, The Rackety 47’s, and Bosh. The Hot Cross Buns influences are derived from a wide array of punk bands as well as alternative and indie bands such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Blink 182, Rancid, Radiohead, NoFX, Less Than Jake, Glassjaw, Primus, Reel Big Fish, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, MxPx, and the Junior Varsity to name a few.
