About upc

Montreal, Canada

“There is NO distinction between YOU and the ENVIRONMENT baby…” ™

One world, one human race…

UPC, Universal Peace Collective (or UP Collective as it is also known), took shape in the French Alps as a side project while james (of JAMESPARKER) - see: - toured the area in the spring of 2004.

Surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine glaciers, james began by creating soundscapes reflective of his environment, ultimately refining a concept whose objective became to fuse cultural diversity and spiritual influences from around the world.

The end result can best be summed up as an experiment involving Five Continents and Two Hemispheres converging over occasionally chilled-out ambient vibes or more frenetic beats.

A journey through New Zealand as this project neared completion certainly had an influence on the outcome of this disc as “Aroha”, title track of the album, means Love in Te Reo, the rich, indigenous language of the Maori people of Aotearoa…

James is a former Outreach and Fundraising program director for Greenpeace Canada, has worked on behalf of Greenpeace International, Amnesty International and MSF (Doctors Without Borders), is a founding member of JAMESPARKER, and is a member of European artist collective ADJOLOLO SYSTEM (France).

Please support your local Greenpeace, Amnesty International and/or MSF chapter if at all possible… Best, j.
